Video Interview: Laura Leebove
When it comes to forging a new destination in the deep endless ocean of the internet, it’s hard to find an idea worth a click-through. But sometimes you come across a site that merges an individual’s fancy with something that loads of people can actually relate to. Next thing you know, you’ve bookmarked a page, followed someone new on twitter, and sipped on a basil mint watermelon lemonade courtesy of your new find.
At this point you may be thinking: “Huh?” Well, we’re talking about Laura Leebove: creator of the music-inspired Guardian-approved cooking blog Eating the Beats.
Laura has managed to interpret her love of music and food both literally and metaphorically, while whipping up such treats as cake balls adorned in Pop Rocks and sprinkles in honor of energetic shiny happy people Matt & Kim; along with flaming shots to celebrate Andrew W.K.’s birthday (which the party-crazed man himself ended up re-tweeting.) Recipes range from fun & inventive associations with band names and song titles, to creations Laura comes up with entirely on her own. And all of them are straight up tasty.
Watch as we follow her around for her latest post about her deliriously sugary caramel filled dark chocolate cups; a play on Austin, TX indie rock band I Love You But I’ve Chosen Darkness.
